introduction | our yacht list | port/voyage manual
In 1987 Trans-Atlantic Agencies was contracted by Forbes Magazine to assist in coordination of a highly publicized nine month Pacific cruising program for their yacht "Highlander." Our responsibilities, to say the least, were enormous. Responsibilities included arranging port agents, berthing locations, fueling, accounting and a multitude of other port services. Putting to use our hands on experience and worldwide network the voyage resulted in a total success.
Since that time we have continued to expand our yacht agency on a global basis. Our growing yacht list reflects a variety of low and high profile yachts ranging in size from 85' to 200' in length. The list includes M/Y "Meduse", "Rasselas", "Little Sis", S/Y "Independence", to name a few.
From the Amazon River to the Galapagos Islands, and from the South Pacific to the Middle East, we have an extensive agent network and database of information available to a yacht captain. Our database continues to grow as the interests of owners continue to take them to more remote and exotic locations around the world.
Our yacht service program begins with an initial discussion with the captain of his intentions and requirements. Once an understanding has been developed of the travel desires of an owner, with input from the captain, we begin to formulate a plan. This plan includes information on the location, touring and guide services, local agent representation, cost estimations, and other valuable information.
A port/voyage manual, is prepared outlining specific port information which provides the captain a valuable tool during the voyage.
Utilizing our agency network, we are able to provide agent support on a global basis. Local agent support provides for a more efficient and cost effective port visit. At the same time, it allows the captain freedom to focus on other important matters presented by his owner.
Once a cruising program has begun, we remain in constant contact with the captain during the entire voyage providing support along the entire way.
An attractive aspect of our program is the accounting and funding element of our service. Through our agency network, we provide funding to each local agent for port expenses, supplies and minor repairs. This relieves the burden of a yacht captain from carrying large sums of currency or credit requirements. Once a port visit has been completed, each local agent provides our office with a full and complete accounting with original invoices and vouchers to support each expense incurred.
Our accounting staff reviews the agent's final account for accuracy and provides the account in a summary format for review by the captain or yacht manager.
In combining the aspects of our database, agency network, and our administrative and accounting functions we can offer a seamless and effective service to each yacht. This typically ensures an enjoyable and successful port visit for most importantly the owner, but also for the captain and crew.
Our mission is to provide each yacht with a professional and comprehensive service. A service which allows us to be a partner to the captain with the objective of fulfilling a successful visit to the many popular and exotic locations around the globe.
